Normally, we concentrate on automotive policy and innovation on this blog. There’s been a lot about the Autumn Statement recently. But this is not a normal situation. It’s a special one. Last night, Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions was named the Van/Truck Leasing Company of the Year at the Commercial Fleet Awards.
A number of our team joined around 600 other professionals from the commercial fleet industry for a glorious meal and ceremony at Birmingham’s Hilton Metropole hotel.
This was only the second time that this black-tie event has been put on, after its launch last year, but the people at Commercial Fleet magazine clearly know what they are doing. The food was superb, and so was the entertainment. Sally Phillips, of Smack the Pony and Miranda fame, hosted proceedings with expert precision, whilst Milton Jones, master of the one-liner, also provided a comedy routine.
What made the evening even more enjoyable was that it was for a good cause. Over £5,000 was pledged by attendees for Little Miracles. This charity helps support the families of children with additional needs. It was wonderful to learn more about their work.
And then came our award, one of the 30 that were handed out to fleets, suppliers and manufacturers on the night. Being named the Van/Truck Leasing Company of the Year was an immense honour, particularly given the brilliance of the other winners and nominees. We like to think that we treat our customers well at Hitachi Capital – it was good to have it recognised!
Our managing director, Jon Lawes, collected the award on stage.
Our thanks goes to our customers, with whom we work in partnership every day, and of course to our colleagues, quite literally, we couldn’t have done this without them all.
