Fleet solutions managers may wish to take the advice of a leading tyre retailer on board and check the wear and tear experienced by their vehicles.
The condition of HGVs and other large transporters could form a significant part of a risk management strategy for many hauliers and long-distance driving firms.
Now Protyre, having recently warned of the danger of failing to change worn-out tyres, is advising fleet owners of other potential hazards.
It suggests that both batteries and windscreen wipers have the potential to be victims of "less visible damage" caused by the current cold weather.
Cold weather reduces the rate at which the current in vehicle batteries is produced, meaning they run out of charge far quicker than normal, while wiper blades can become frozen to the screen.
If they are frozen then Protyre suggests not trying to force them to work, as this can blow a fuse.
The Met Office is forecasting that the current cold snap will continue for some days to come, with several parts of the country due to experience further snowfall.
