Fleet solutions relating to the management of occupational road risk may soon gain greater momentum following the Institute of Car Fleet Management's (ICFM) decision to back a new government campaign.

The Driving for Better Business initiative, which is being delivered by RoadSafe, will receive support from the ICFM as it raises awareness of the scheme's potential benefits for fleets.

Caroline Scurr, campaign director, highlighted the importance of effective management for individuals who drive for work and explained that, if not addressed correctly, there can be negative connotations for profit margins.

"All of our 'business champions' have cut crashes and related costs significantly - and consequently, employee wellbeing and safety have been improved," she commented.

"The result is complete legal compliance and a measurable contribution to business efficiency with savings that go straight to the bottom line."

Ms Scurr went on to say that the ICFM will now be taking the campaign's message to its membership, which encompasses a number of firms involved in car leasing.

The ICFM was established in 1992 and secured three prizes at this year's Fleet News Awards.
