Companies which take out a commercial vehicle hire contract with the intention of operating their fleet in central London may be concerned by plans to turn a busy highway into a toll road.

Bosses at Alexandra Palace are mulling over plans to increase revenue to pay for the upkeep of grounds - one of which is asking drivers to pay to travel down Alexandra Palace Way, according to the Muswell Hill Journal.

Currently, the £60,000 annual cost of maintaining the road and its surroundings is met by the Alexandra Park and Palace Charitable Trust, as it belongs to the foundation rather than the local council.

But it can no longer afford to continue subsidising the road and is considering plans which could bring in up to £1 million a year, the newspaper reports.

Such plans could be bad news for fleet solutions bosses attempting to operate their group of vehicles on a budget - as the regular paying of tolls could inflate their expenses.
