Commercial vehicle hire news: FTA appoints business manager
Posted by Ben Brown
The Freight Transport Association (FTA) has appointed a new strategic business manager for its Passengerfta arm.
Lawrie Alford will step up to the position within the association's business unit, which was only recently established in a bid to consolidate all of its services for public service vehicle operators, including those involved with fleet solutions.
Following on from his role as the sector head of the FTA's automotive and business car leasing arm, Mr Alford will take on responsibility for the independent auditing and technical training of the association's members.
Expressing his delight at his new challenge, he stated: "With significant challenges facing the PSV industry over the next decade, Passengerfta has been launched to raise the profile of this increasingly important area of FTA activity.
"I am very much looking forward to helping our members in this sector stay compliant and improve their efficiency."
Just recently, the FTA joined commercial contract hire operators in welcoming the government's new national lorry parking strategy, aimed at giving drivers more places to rest.
