O-licensing pledge may be welcomed by Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions' clients
Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions' customers may welcome a pledge from two traffic commissioners to protect honest fleet operators who abide by O-licensing regulations.
Roadtransport.com reported Sarah Bell and Joan Aitken claim it is unfair such companies are being undercut by those dodging the rules.
The comments were made in a report produced by traffic commissioners for the years 2008 and 2009.
Ms Aitken said she was aware that in some cases where licences have been revoked and individuals disqualified, people were continuing to operate through a family member or some other stooge arrangement.
However, she outlined the intention of traffic commissioners across the UK to stamp out such practices.
"We are taking closer interest than ever before in who is holding and controlling any licence that comes under regulatory scrutiny," Ms Aitken stated.
In other news, the Freight Transport Association has welcomed a report submitted to the Welsh Assembly offering recommendations on ways to improve road safety for hauliers operating in the country.
