Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions customers may face skills shortage
Hitachi Capital Commercial Vehicle Services customers may share concerns that the industry could face a skills shortage after the recession.
Research by the Freight Transport Association (FTA) found more than half of its members are worried there will be a lack of suitable workers when Britain starts to recover from the economic downturn.
The study found people in the sector were also concerned not enough young people are choosing careers in this area and that women are underrepresented.
General manager of training at FTA Nic Allen explained in the past the majority of individuals working within the area of logistics have been men aged over 40.
"With widespread redundancies and job losses across the entire sector, we are deeply concerned - as are our members - that we will lose that skills base," he added.
In other news, FTA has previously called for a rethink on the Severn Bridge toll, claiming the charge is unfair for businesses operating in the area.
