Car manufacturer Ford has claimed that it is well poised to provide the automotive industry with vehicles that are eco-friendly, affordable to run and safe on the roads.

Green fleet organisations could therefore do no better than opting to stock vehicles from Ford's range, all of which have helped the manufacturer to increase its grip on the market share.

Indeed, while overall demand for new cars decreased in April, Ford experienced a small drop of only 3.6 per cent, highlighting the fact that people are still choosing to buy its cars.

Moreover, the organisation recorded 16,457 fleet registrations last month, only 343 less than during the same period of 2008.

Managing director of Ford of Britain Nigel Sharp commented: "Ford has taken the position expected of a market leader by announcing attractive supplementary offers to help motorists afford safer, greener and more efficient new vehicles."

Meanwhile, leading environmental website Clean Green Cars recently praised Ford for its efforts in reducing the CO2 levels of its vehicles, saying it is "playing its part".
