Making environmentally friendly changes to a fleet could save money in the long-term, it has been suggested.
Erica Russell, an adviser at Business Link, has suggested that even making small changes can help.
Although many, such as turning off computer monitors in offices when not in use and switching lights off in the evening are obvious, there may be some changes that are not so.
The likes of switching from diesel vehicles to eco-friendly hybrid versions can mean that savings can be made in the long-term, as well as other benefits.
Ms Russell said that "being able to sell the benefit" to customers was vital, with many clients now wanting to see that the companies they use are employing green measurements.
She noted that bodies such as the Carbon Trust were great for those looking for advice on the matter.
According to statistics on green businesses on the Startups' website, the annual energy bill for the small business sector is around £3.5 billion.
