Peugeot and Citroen cars will be equipped with improved diesel hybrid technology from 2011 following the formation of a strategic partnership between PSA Peugeot Citroen and Robert Bosch.

Turning the technology into a mass producible solution has been a priority of PSA Peugeot Citroen as it seeks to implement an environmental strategy, with fleet managers and consumers looking for a more environmentally-friendly mode of transportation in order to reduce costs and reduce CO2 emissions.

PSA Peugeot Citroen is hopeful that by partnering with Bosch it can accelerate the commercialisation of hybrid diesel vehicles.

The agreement means that instead of obtaining parts from multiple sources, Bosch will provide the company with components including the rear electric motor and front-mounted high voltage alternator as a matter of course.

Bosch has 30 years' experience in the hybrid technology field and also counts batteries as an area of expertise.

PSA Peugeot Citroen believes that by taking advantage of this the effectiveness of its hybrid diesel technology can be improved.

Robert Bosch, which has been trading since 1886, is the biggest supplier of car components in the world.ADNFCR-1627-ID-18922545-ADNFCR
