Van drivers will now be able to benefit from the plug-in grant when buying an electric vehicle.
Fleets will be able to receive 20% - up to £8,000 - off the cost of a plug-in van, as part of a government initiative to encourage more drivers to choose environmentally friendly vehicles.
Transport minister Norman Baker and Business minister Mark Prisk also re-confirmed that funding is secured for the grant until 2015.
It is hoped that the grant will allow companies to purchase low-carbon vehicles that otherwise would have been unaffordable.
Mr Baker commented: "This is great news for businesses given the lower running costs of these vehicles - fleet buyers tell us that this is one of the most important factor[s] influencing their decision on what to buy."
Following the announcement, the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association chief executive John Lewis stated that the grant may encourage more fleets to "take the plunge" and buy plug-in vehicles to benefit from low running costs and environmental savings.
