Commercial fleet managers keen to reduce their running costs may welcome a new government proposal.
The country's leaders have announced plans to scrap the southbound charge for using the Dartford Crossing in Kent.
According to the Freight Transport Association (FTA), getting rid of the toll will help companies save money in a number of ways.
It pointed out, as well as eliminating the cost of covering the fee itself, the move should cut commercial delivery times.
Head of policy for the south-east Gordon Telling said: "With a typical HGV costing £50 an hour to run, anything that can be done to reduce the time a lorry is spent sitting in traffic is good news."
In addition, he claimed the proposal should help lower air pollution levels in the area.
Meanwhile, FTA recently welcomed Gordon Brown's announcement that he is looking to start a new national investment programme for businesses.
