Professional driver consultation is "wide-ranging"
A consultation launched this week to specify hours that bus, van and professional drivers can work has been described as "wide-ranging".
Transport minister Paul Clark discussed the document, which will close on October 13th.
He said because this issue has the potential to affect thousands of motorists throughout the country, it is crucial they are effective.
The government department is looking to hear from as many drivers, fleet managers and operators in the sector as possible "so that we can understand how the rules are working on the ground", he added.
One of the questions one the consultation paper asks whether maximum duty times for those who are behind the wheel of passenger and goods vehicles are at the correct level.
Passenger drivers are required to take a break of 30 minutes after five and half hours, while in the UK except Northern Ireland, goods drivers are not subject to any such rules.
