National Oil Check Week hailed a success
Thousands of company car drivers across the UK are a little the wiser after the recent National Oil Check Week campaign to get motorists to look under their bonnets more often, organisers have claimed.
Car care products company Comma said the initiative had proved a huge success, with many drivers now more aware of the importance of maintaining their vehicles and keeping a check on oil levels.
The firm found that nearly half of drivers were running their cars on low oil, meaning many were running the risk of breakdown and a hefty repair bill as a result.
Mike Bewsey, sales and marketing director at Comma, said: "Most people we spoke to were surprised to discover that their cars needed such regular attention."
"I'm certain we saved at least a few people having to shell out for a new engine," he added.
The successful campaign comes after tyre safety organisation TyreSafe last week warned that tyre maintenance should be "a key priority" for commercial fleet operators to help keep their drivers safe on the roads.
