Company car drivers 'warned about drink driving'
Police forces around the UK will be cracking down on motorists this summer in a bid to combat drink driving.
Contract hire operators are therefore warned that their drivers too should always maintain a high standard of road safety, ensuring they are not among those tempted by a sunny afternoon pint.
This comes after road safety minister Jim Fitzpatrick explained that driving under the influence of alcohol is just as much a problem in summertime as it is at Christmas, with some 200 motorists being affected.
"With warm weather and long summer evenings motorists might end up drinking when they hadn't planned to," he said.
He added that not only do drink drivers risk spending time behind bars, they could also lose their licence, which means their job if they drive company cars.
This comes after the Department for Transport recently issued a warning to motorists that they are likely to cause an accident by texting at the wheel.
