Business drivers 'the greenest on the roads'
Business drivers are leading the way when it comes to environmentally-friendly motoring, new research has found.
Coming as growing numbers of fleet managers across the country embrace green technology in a bid to reduce both their fuel bills and their carbon footprints, a study carried out by the Energy Saving Trust has found that almost half of all company car drivers can be classed as 'environmentally aware'.
Indeed, just 13 per cent of business drivers are not concerned about green issues, the report stated, while around one in four put energy efficiency above the brand of the car they are given by their employer.
Robbie McKinnon from the Energy Saving Trust, stated: "We've found that a lot of businesses choose to implement environmental practices like using smarter driving techniques, other forms of transport and teleconferencing.
"Smarter driving techniques can save a company with a fleet of a hundred vehicles £90,000 so that is a huge saving," he added.
Such savings could come in very handy should the government put up the rate of corporation tax at the start of April, as is widely anticipated.
