The AA has highlighted the problems facing UK roads following the recent fortnight of severe weather.
Following several consecutive days of snow and ice, UK roads are now much more susceptible to potholes, the organisation has said.
Car fleet managers may face a rise in the number of claims they have to deal with as a result of Britain's poor roads and may need to inform drivers of the potential threat to their safety.
Commenting on the predictions, AA president Edmund King said: "Once again the fabric of our local roads is a major cause for concern with surfaces crumbling and drivers and riders at risk of damage to their vehicles and even themselves.
"We have gone from a salt crisis to a hole crisis. We have indeed had a bad winter but the poor state of our local roads has visually got worse in the last few weeks."
The bad weather at the beginning of this month caused severe problems on the UK's roads, with many accusing local government of not being prepared for such potential issues.
