£3 million dedicated to updating of south east England's roads
Local roads in the south east of England are to receive £3 million in funding, it has been announced.
Transport minister Paul Clark commented that the improvements would benefit all those who use the roads.
"High quality local road networks are vital to communities; connecting people with work, shops, services, family and friends," Mr Clark said.
"This additional funding will allow local authorities to carry out improvements to important local highways bringing benefits to all who use the roads."
Road resurfacing and bridge maintenance will be where the focus of the money goes, with the first round of funding being made available in April.
As well as the south east of England, the north east is also to receive £3 million in funding, along with the south west which will receive £5 million and the West Midlands receiving a larger £10 million.
Well surfaced local roads are pivotal for many fleet drivers, as accidents are more likely to be caused where there are excessive potholes.
