Owners of commercial vehicle hire companies or businesses with company cars to allocate may wish to invest in newer models in order to improve carbon emissions, help the environment and potentially save cash.

Statistics released by Clean Green Cars show that the car scrappage scheme of 2009 helped carbon output drop.

Each new car sold during the year is said to have released 5.6% fewer carbon emissions than previous models.

Fuel-efficient vehicles could help those running a commercial vehicle hire firm keep costs to a minimum - a benefit which could also apply to other car and HGV fleets.

The car scrappage scheme enticed thousands of Britons into purchasing a new vehicle - which are typically better for the environment and use less fuel - while binning older, harmful motors.

Owners of commercial vehicle hire companies and other car fleets have until the middle of February to swap to a more efficient set of vehicles before the scheme ends.ADNFCR-1627-ID-19568850-ADNFCR
