Workshop aims to improve sat nav technology for commercial vehicles
Commercial vehicle operators looking to get the best out of the latest transport technology are being urged to book their place at a free workshop to be held early next month.
The event, which will be held on July 2nd, is run by the Freight Transport Association and the Location and Timing Knowledge Transfer Network, and will focus on improving satellite navigation use.
Although the technology is widely used by company car drivers and other motorists, many commercial vehicle operators feel it still fails to cater for their needs.
The workshop will therefore aim to promote a wider understanding of the issues involved and develop a strategy for improvement, with experts from across the industry on hand to have their say.
Topics covered at the meeting will include the barriers to take-up, what products would be attractive to commercial vehicle drivers and how to progress to ensure sat navs become more useful for operators.
Last week, the Highways Agency launched a new mobile-friendly version of its official traffic website aimed specifically at coach fleet operators, allowing companies and coach crews to access the latest information and plan their journeys via their mobile phones.
