Companies may be well advised to consider their fleet solutions strategy ahead of new legislation set to come into force next year.
Insurance broker Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) points out that as the Ministry of Justice is set to reform the process regarding personal injury claims relating to road traffic accidents, fleets should be aware that a number of procedures and timescales must be strictly adhered to.
As such moves will look to reduce the period for liability investigations which currently last between 60 and 90 days down to 15, fleet managers are advised that a failure to meet deadlines and follow rules could see claims delayed and result in higher costs.
"Businesses with fleets must also be mindful that dishonest claims may also rise, despite a police clampdown on 'cash-for-crash' road accident fraud," states a JLT representative, those concerned about fleet risk management may be interested to hear.
Meanwhile, a recent campaign by Brake saw fleet managers invited to a series of workshops, aiming at helping such professionals encourage safe driving behaviour by their employees, with particular emphasis placed on staying sober while behind the wheel and wearing seatbelts.
