Protecting resale values is 'fundamental' for fleet operators
Fleet operators looking to keep on top of costs during the current financial climate have been urged to make the most of the latest technology to help protect the resale value of their vehicles.
According to Tracker, managers who employ telematics to monitor driving behaviour, distances travelled and any faults or service requirements on a car could make significant cost savings.
When it comes to selling their vehicle on, information such as this can be "fundamental" in protecting the final sale price of the car and ensuring businesses do not lose out, the company claims.
Bill Raynal, managing director of Tracker, said having such a comprehensive picture of a vehicle's use can help fleet operators decide when best to sell it to avoid the worst effects of depreciation and make a significant difference to the price tag.
"Buyers like to know that a vehicle has been maintained properly as anything less will command a lower price," he commented.
According to HPI, fleet operators can also help drive down costs by opting for more eco-friendly models when replacing their older vehicles in order to benefit from reduced road taxes and running costs.
