Fleet operators looking to keep their vehicles in top condition should conduct a thorough spring clean in order to reduce the risk of long-term corrosion damage, it has been claimed.

Leading valeting specialists Autosheen Professional Car Cleaning have warned that discoloured upholstery and a mucky exterior can significantly reduce a car's value, the Peterborough Evening News reports.

Nic James of Authosheen Peterborough said: "A car will soon deteriorate without regular cleaning and a coat of good quality wax."

He recommended that both company car drivers and private vehicle owners should therefore take care to keep their cars in good condition, especially if they are considering trading them in for newer models.

Mr James added that drivers can also apply a special protective coating to help guard both interior and exterior surfaces from damage and protect the value of their investment.

This comes after car repairs organisation Kwik-Fit last month advised contract hire companies to have the air-conditioning system in their vehicles serviced in the run-up to the summer.

It claimed that air-con units are left untouched during winter months and can often produce a foul smell when drivers come to use them as the weather improves.ADNFCR-1627-ID-19195657-ADNFCR
