With the scrappage scheme officially coming into effect next week, contract hire organisations and fleet operations around the UK are likely to be looking out for the best vehicle deals.

According to Volkswagen, motorists and companies alike could find themselves making big savings by trading in their old vehicles for incentive-driven discounts on new models.

It claimed that there will be a price reduction of £2,000 across its range, meaning significantly cheaper brand new cars.

A spokesperson for the manufacturer commented: "Offering superb levels of build quality, refinement and safety levels, the Polo supermini will be available from £6,345, while the Golf … can be driven away for as little as £11,585."

This comes after the Retail Motor Industry Federation recently claimed that the automotive industry is likely to experience a real boost following the forthcoming introduction of the scrappage scheme.

It stated that manufacturers and traders have already received a great deal of enquiries regarding the scheme.
