Most people 'glad to see the back of speed humps'

Car leasing experts need never be concerned again about the potential damage speed humps can cause, if new government proposals come to fruition.
According to Warranty Direct, phasing out these traffic-calming measures in 20 mph zones would be a wise move - and most personal and commercial drivers would be glad to see them go.
The firm said six per cent of suspension damage is traceable to speed humps, as well as poor road surfaces and potholes.
Indeed, the average repair bill people end up shelling out to fix such problems is £240, Warranty Direct's Duncan McClure Fisher commented.
"It's time for the government to rely on the common sense and good driving manners of the majority of drivers, rather than punish everyone with big repair bills," he added.
Thinking about various fleet solutions and regulations is something most car leasing companies may want to prioritise in 2010, to ensure they start the year with safety first.
