Business car leasing customers could be among those who have expressed their road safety fears in a new study.

Published this week by mytyres.co.uk and put together by analysts at CCB fast.MAP, the poll asked 1,000 drivers what their biggest worry was when taking to the roads.

It was revealed that 55% of respondents placed skidding out of control as their top concern, which was followed by breaking down.

"With the evidence of more and more drivers putting off the purchase of replacement tyres because of the economic conditions, the likelihood of skidding accidents has risen considerably," the report said.

It was noted this issue had also been exacerbated by the recent increase in rainfall that was being seen across Britain.

The group then went on to issue some advice that could help allay business car leasing customers' fears, including making sure tyres do not wear down to less than the 1.6mm legal minimum.

In October, Tyresafe issued a report stating 25% of company car drivers had never checked their tread depths, while 41% admitted they had not done so in the last six months.
