Company car drivers 'must keep check on tyre conditions'
Company car drivers are being urged to check the condition of their tyres before they hit the roads in order to avoid endangering themselves and others.
TyreSafe is keen to drive home the message as the UK road network prepares for one of its busiest summers yet, with thousands of families opting for a British-based holiday.
The company says tyre safety should be "a key priority" for motorists before any long journey, whether they are hitting the roads for a relaxing break or as part of their business commitments.
Stuart Jackson, chairman of Tyresafe, said: "Motorway gridlock is a common sight in the summer months and one that could be avoided if more motorists made time for straightforward tyre safety checks and replacing illegal or damaged tyres."
He advised that drivers should therefore keep a check on tread depths, tyre pressures and overall condition in order to stay safe on the roads.
The warning comes after TyreSafe last week warned that tyre maintenance should also be a major consideration for commercial vehicle operators in helping to improve their accident management and keep drivers safe.
