The Met Office has warned drivers that further snow will be arriving throughout the day today (February 6th) and could reach as deep as 20cm in some parts of the UK.
Likely to fall heaviest in the north of Wales and Scotland, the snow is likely to bring further disruption to the roads and the number of accidents is likely to remain high.
The snow has already caused a great deal of disruption to the UK and car fleet managers will be counting the cost of accidents to their car fleet.
Although Saga Insurance claimed it had not noted any significant rises in the number of claims early in the week, the AA then announced that it has experienced record claims on Monday (February 2nd), as drivers not used to such conditions attempted to tackle the roads on the way to work.
A statement from the Met Office read: "Overnight temperatures are expected to fall well below freezing with widespread ice on untreated roads and pavements for much of the day.
"Patches of freezing fog may be an additional hazard in places for those travelling."
It was also noted that sleet, rain and snow were all predicted for the weekend and following week, suggesting driving conditions will be hazardous for car fleet drivers for some days yet.
