New campaign to cut road deaths at work
A new nationwide campaign that is intended to raise awareness about risk management training for fleet drivers has been launched by training specialists the TTC Group.
Coming alongside national Road Safety Week, the new initiative will remind fleet management of the importance of investing in proper workplace safety training for fleet drivers.
Roughly one in three road accidents in the UK involve someone using a vehicle for work and 20 professional drivers die or are seriously injured each week - a toll which TTC Group spokesman Simon Protan described as "unacceptable".
He commented: "Drivers must be continually made aware about the dangers of using mobile phones; texting while driving; driver fatigue; drink and drug driving; and the risk of driving the morning after drinking alcohol to ensure they remain safe whilst driving for work."
Last month, the AA issued new research which drew a link between the rise of flexible working and improvements to road safety figures, particularly during Friday rush hours.
